Christina Renee Schlodder, 47, of Holton KS, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026 with family by her side, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was born January 20, 1979 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Timothy Jon and Nancy Diane (Cobb) Schlodder.
Some people leave a lasting impression not through grand gestures, but through the love they give, the kindness they share, and the countless little moments that become treasured memories. Christina Renee Schlodder was one of those people.
Christina graduated from Holton High School in 1997. On August 12, 2000, she married Jason Murphy. Together, they welcomed three sons, Rhein, Rhett, and Rhevl, who became an important part of Christina’s world. Although Christina and Jason later divorced, their marriage brought her the three boys who would forever hold a special place in her heart.
Of all the roles she held throughout her life, none was more meaningful than being a mother to her three sons. She devoted many years to being a stay-at-home mother, caring for her boys and sharing in the everyday moments of their childhood. Her sons were an important part of her world, and the bond they shared will forever be a part of her legacy.
Christina later pursued her interest in cosmetology at Washburn Tech. She worked as a cosmetologist in Holton and Topeka, where her work was about more than just hair. She enjoyed the conversations, laughter, and friendships that came from spending time with others.
She eventually found another special place in her heart for the children at Holton Elementary School, where she worked serving lunches. Christina enjoyed seeing the students’ smiling faces, exchanging a few words, and sharing those small moments of connection that could brighten an ordinary day. It was often the simplest things in life that brought her happiness.
Music was another beautiful part of Christina’s life. She had a passion for singing, finding joy and expression through music. Whether sharing her voice with others or simply enjoying a favorite song, music was one of the many ways Christina embraced life. Although her voice may now be silent, the memories of her singing will remain a beautiful melody in the hearts of those who loved her
Christina also believed in the importance of giving back to her community. She proudly served as a member of the USD 336 School Board, demonstrating her commitment to education, children, and the future of her community. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Holton, where she was part of a community of faith and fellowship.
One of Christina’s meaningful commitments was her advocacy for Fragile X syndrome. She believed in raising awareness, encouraging understanding, and helping give a voice to individuals and families affected by the condition. Her advocacy reflected her compassion and willingness to stand up for something that mattered deeply to her. Through her efforts, she helped remind others of the importance of acceptance, inclusion, and love.
Christina will be remembered for her friendly smile, her kind heart, and the connections she made along the way. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. To each person who loved her, she was someone different, and each will carry memories of her that are uniquely their own.
Christina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hurman R Cobb of Lawrence and John and Delores Schlodder of Holton.
She is survived by her loving parents, Tim and Nancy Schlodder of Holton; her three sons, Rhein, Rhett, and Rhevl Murphy, all of Holton; her sisters, Pamela Schlodder of Manhattan and Melissa Norris of Oskaloosa; her niece and nephew Haylee and Cooper Norris of Oskaloosa; and her grandmother, Helen Cobb of Lawrence. She also leaves behind many aunts, cousins, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Though Christina’s time here was far too short, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain. Her story does not end with goodbye. It continues through her sons, through the family who loved her, through the friendships she made, and through every person who carries a little piece of her in their heart.
