Charles R. "Sha-nosh" Thomas, 71, of Delia formerly of Topeka died Friday, May 12, 2006 at a Topeka hospital.
Charles was born December 23, 1934 in Jackson County, the son of Charley and Lillian Shopteese Thomas. He worked as a painter. He served in the Army 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg, NC. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and American Legion Post #410 We-Ta-Se. He was a member of the Drum religion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, adopted mother, Irma Pequano; brothers, Lavern, Melvin, Gerald, Alex, Marlin, and Kenneth Thomas; sisters, Ethaleene Chenault and Lorene Thomas.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy A. Doll of Ft. St. John British Columbia, Canada; adopted father, Andy Mitchell of Mayetta; brothers, Dale Thomas of Sault Saint Marie, MI, John Pewamo and Bob Hubbard both of Mayetta; sister, Laveda Wahweotten of Hoyt; grandchildren, Tim and Bradley Doll; and many nieces and nephews.
Drum services will be Monday evening, May 15, 2006 at the Danceground Building in Mayetta. Burial will be Tuesday morning in the Thomas Cemetery.
