Mayetta- Charles Frederick Renfro, 87, passed away Sunday July 31, 2011 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Charles was born January 21, 1924 in Denison, KS the son of Charley Austin and Mabel Estella Way Renfro. He graduated from Mayetta High School in 1942. Charles served in the Army during World War II in the Burma-India Theater. He was a Greentire Inspector for Goodyear for 40 years before he retired in 1986. He was a member of Local #307 URW, he served on the Mayetta School Board and the Mayetta City Council and was a member of Mayetta United Methodist Church. Charles married Alma Pearl Rogers on February 8, 1947 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Vaught and a brother, Walter Renfro. Charles is survived by his son, Dale (Connie) Renfro of Onaga, KS; his daughters, Joyce Hopkins (Steve) of New Strawn, KS and Marcia Stithem (Randy) of Hoyt, KS; his sister, Ruby M. Chase of Grantville, KS; his sister-in-law, Virginia Burns of Rushville, MO; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 4th, at Mayetta United Methodist Church with burial following in Mayetta Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
