CHARLES EUGENE MONTGOMERY SR

Charles Eugene Montgomery Sr., 71, Valley Falls, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness.
Charles was a Public Service Executive for the Kansas Department of Revenue in Topeka for 32 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 555 in Topeka.
He was born April 10, 1935, at Stella, Neb., the son of Harold A. and Velma Kay Sons Montgomery. He graduated from Rockport, MO High School. He married Barbara Godfrey on Nov. 21, 1953, at Hoyt. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Ralph Montgomery on March 5, 1990, and a sister Carol Christensen.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, three sons, Bobby J. Montgomery, and his wife Winona, Valley Falls; Charles Eugene Montgomery Jr and his wife Pamela, Hoyt, and James Roland Montgomery and his wife, Teresa, Valley Falls; two daughters Patricia Lee Platt, and her husband, Mark, Valley Falls, and Deanna Lynn Bernauer, and her husband, Charles, Topeka; a daughter in law, Tammy Montgomery, Valley Falls; two sisters, Dorothy Bower and Joyce Neiswender, both of Topeka, 17 grand children and 17 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 pm, Thursday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
