Charles A. Mannell, 80, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born February 22, 1933 north of Holton the son of Charles Henry and Lena Esther (Prinz) Mannell.
Charles graduated from Holton High School in 1950. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. Charles was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the American Legion Post #44 and Holton VFW #1367.
He married Dixie L. Greene on November 13, 1955 in Holton. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda Curl (Danny) and Linda Shupe (Kevin) both of Holton; three grandchildren, Brandy Anderson (Doug), Leslie Shupe (Mike) and Tye Shupe (Chelsea) and three great grandchildren, Colt Hamner, Nicole DeVader and Violet Shupe.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Baseball c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
