TOPEKA- Charles "Charlie" Lewis Reynolds, 92, formerly of Circleville, KS passed away December 18, 2011 in Topeka. He was born November 2, 1919 in Holton, the son of Floyd L. and Mona M. (Strawn) Reynolds.
Charlie graduated from Holton High School in 1937 and attended one year of college at Washburn University. He served in the United States Army 743rd Tank Battalion during World War II and landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion.
He was a lifelong member of the Jackson County Community. He was a farmer and had worked for 34 years for ANR Pipeline Company in Havensville and had retired in 1981. He was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka.
Charlie married Vera Mary Stewart on February 14, 1940 in Holton. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Hazel L. Morgan.
Survivors include 3 sons, Dennis L. Reynolds and his wife Sue of Hill City, KS, Garold L. Reynolds and his wife Charlene of Topeka, KS and Steven L. Reynolds and his wife Mindy of Lecompton, KS; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Midland Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
