Charles Paul Kyle, 91, Oskaloosa, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at a Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.
He was born July 2, 1918, at Valley Falls, the son of Charles and Eva Connell Kyle. He graduated from Valley Falls High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II.
Paul had owned and operated Foster Freeze Restaurant and an apartment complex, both in Long Beach, CA. He was a member of the American Legion Post 400 in Topeka.
He married Mary Irene Figgs on April 18, 1942, at Oskaloosa. She died on Aug. 2, 2002. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Kyle, Louis Kyle, Edward Kyle and John Kyle and three sisters, Marie Clement, Della Lawrence and Blanche Hiltibrand.
Survivors include a nephew, Darel Kyle, Shawnee; four great-nephews; four great-nieces and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery with military honors conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, until service time.
