Carol A. Hare, 69, of Westmoreland formerly of Holton died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Wamego City Hospital. She was the daughter of Edward Leon and Lillian Welch Stapp. She was born on August 19, 1941 in Neosho, MO.
Carol graduated from high school in Joplin. She came to Holton in 1988 and was here until she moved to Westmoreland in 2009. Carol was a customer service manager for Wal-Mart until she retired due to her health. She also worked at Sac & Fox Casino for 2 years. Carol was a member of the Cherokee Nation and she attended Westmoreland Christian Church.
Carol married William E. Hare on July 6, 1961 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Newman on November 20, 2009. Carol is survived by her sons, James Newman (Teri) of Westmoreland and Michael Hare (Angela) of Circleville; brothers, Jack Stapp of Murfreesboro, TN and Mack Stapp (Helen) of Kemp, TX; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
The family will greet friends Monday January 24, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Mrs. Hare will be cremated following the visitation and later inurned at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, MO.
