Carol "Jean" Haber, 95, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Holton, Carbondale, and Emporia KS, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Aldersgate Assisted Living in Topeka. She was born August 5, 1928 in Butler, MO, the daughter of Harry C. and Lucy Agnes (Wilson) Fisher.
Jean graduated from Emporia High School in 1947. She worked as a Display Manager for Poole's Department Store and as Display Assistant for Newman's Department Store both in Emporia, KS. She later worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. She was a skilled artist working at Silver Dollar City and later taught China painting in several Midwest states.
She was a former member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton and Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Agnes Fisher; a sister, Donna Brink and husbands, Fred Haber and Clarence Haber.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Nelson of Topeka, KS; 2 granddaughters, Rachel Taylor and Jessica Taylor, and 2 great-grandchildren, Xavier Brown and Olive Thomson.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, KS. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Jean will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
