Carol Jean Church, 65, Valley Falls, KS died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her home. She was born December 4, 1946, in Lawrence, the daughter of William L. "Pete" and Pearl Vogler Abel.

Carol was a CNA for Aldersgate Village in Topeka and Valley Health Care in Valley Falls. She had worked as a custodian for USD #338 Valley Falls and USD #339 Jefferson County North. She also worked at Kiddie Corral and Mac's Grill, both in Valley Falls.

Carol married Wayne A. Church, Jr. on November 12, 1966 at Oskaloosa; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Barb Coleman (Rick) of Eudora, KS, Teresa Montgomery (James), Tammy Wynkoop (Brad), Jeff Church and Brian Church (Tara) all of Valley Falls; a brother, Harry James McPeek, Paola; three sisters, Jeanette VanRooy and Nancy Kaufman, both of Ohio;, and Darlene Mountain, Lawrence; mother-in-law, Velma O. Church of Oskaloosa; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joshua Eugene Montgomery and Cheyenne Marie Church.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Valley Falls Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
