Holton- Bonnie Marie Snook, 80, of Arrington, KS, passed away February 19, 2009 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 26, 1928 in Fremont, IA the daughter of Bernard G. and Edna Orman Buchholz.
She had worked at John Morrell meat packing plant in Ottumwa, IA, owned and operated Snook's Nook in Arrington, KS and later retired from Oldham's meat packing plant after 20 years of service.
Bonnie was a life member of the Holton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Local Meat Cutters Union in Holton, and AFL CIO in IA.
She married Harold Thomas in 1950, they later divorced. She later married Donald W. Snook on April 14, 1963 in Ottumwa, IA. He passed away June 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Survivors include 4 sons, Curtis Thomas of Bloomfield, IA, Reggie Thomas of Holton, KS, Marty Thomas of Ozawkie, KS, Kenneth Snook of Mayetta, KS; a step-son, Russell Snook of CA; 2 step-daugthers, Tonya Milberry of OK, Acena Hanson of CA; 2 sisters, Olive Wilson and Dorothy Gray both of Albuquerque, NM; 4 brothers, Ernest Buchholz of IA, Leslie Buchholz of TX, Donald Buchholz of ID, Gene Buchholz of NE; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. She will then go to Ottumwa, IA for a visitation 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Reece Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow the visitation at the McCormick Cemetery in Highland Center, IA. Memorials may be given to Jackson County Friends of Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
