Obituary

Betty Carmean (Fisk) Jury passed away peacefully on September 24th, 2023. She was born on September 19th, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas to Dale and Ruth Carmean. She is survived by her three children; Nancy Lawrence, Becky Palumbo (Brian), and John Fisk (Nancy). Six grandchildren; Sarah Thomas (Justin), Katie Berry (Brian), Katherine Shipley (Joe), Elizabeth Adams (Christian), Charlie Fisk and Billy Fisk….and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Jury.

Betty was raised in Topeka Kansas and as a teenager spent a great deal of time at the family farm where she loved to ride horses with her father. She graduated from Topeka High School before she went on to attend the University of Kansas. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority which provided her with lifelong friendships that she cherished. She finished her education and graduated with a degree in Home Economics.

She married Charles Fisk and soon settled in to raise her three children. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at the Topeka Zoo. In 1975 the family moved to Overland Park, Kansas. Betty started a long career at Commerce Bank in Kansas City where she supported the Executive Team. At this point in her life, she became very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous where she took great pride in being able to sponsor and support fellow members.

She married Jack Jury in 2001 in Kansas City. She enjoyed a renewed lease on life with Jack as they traveled together and spent many summers down at the lake house in Grand Lake, Oklahoma.

Betty had such a natural beauty about her and positive outlook on life that was evident to all of those who came into touch with her. Her home-spun sayings were comforting, empathetic and truly heartfelt. She was blessed to survive many challenges and obstacles throughout her life that provided her with a uniquely practical point of view. She was very socially active up through her later years in life and she so appreciated being able to share the wisdom of her life's lessons with those she loved the most.
