Bette M. (Parrott) Ford, 83, Valley Falls, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born on July 17, 1925, at Horton, the daughter of William E. and Desdemona Lovelace Parrott. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1942.
Bette had worked as a secretary in the Kansas Department of
Revenue at Topeka for 20 years. She was a member of the Valley Falls
United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Kanza Club and a 60 Year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a member of the Jefferson County Democrat Club and had served as a Delaware Township Committee Woman and as a Silver Haired Legislator. She had been a member of the Valley Falls PTA and the American Businesswomen.
Bette loved to play bridge and participated in several clubs in Valley Falls.
She married Daryl M. Ford on July 30, 1944, at Valley Falls. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Deidre L. (Steven) Slagle, and granddaughter Jennifer E. (Eric) Clark, all of Stevensville, MT, and a niece, Suzanne Parrott, Dover, DE.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be at Gragg's Chapel Cemetery, west of Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday.
