Sue Berniece Simons, 86, Topeka, formerly of Valley Falls, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Midland Hospice in Topeka.
She was born on July 11, 1922, at Mankato, the daughter of Arthur Talmage and Sue Emma Abel Thompson.
Berniece was a homemaker. She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She married Marion Grant "Bud" Simons on June 29, 1946, at Baldwin. He died on April 17, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Verne Thompson, and two sisters, Louise Gillet and Marie Simons.
Survivors include a son, Alan (Sherry) Simons, Bellevue, WA; two daughters, Marilyn Tomson, Topeka, and Jan (Mike) Patterson, Valley Falls; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
