WETMORE- Barbara Jean Hughes, 85, of Wetmore, KS, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home with family by her side. She was born September 25, 1935 in Granada, KS, the daughter of Robert B. and Elizabeth A. (Wyatt) Dean.

Barbara graduated from Wetmore High School. She lived most of her life in the Wetmore community. She also lived in Oregon for a few years. She was a custodian at Wetmore schools for over 30 years. She had attended Lakeview Faith Chapel.

Barbara married Donald Howard Hughes on August 29, 1958 in Vancouver, WA. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Dean; an infant son, Rodney K. Hughes and 2 brothers, Robert and Frank Dean.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Jaunita Rice of Wetmore, KS and Donna Thomas of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sisters, Mary Krevanko and Viola Janson both of Oregon; 2 brothers, Larry Dean of Holton, KS and Richard Dean of Junction City, KS; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Private Family Memorial Service will be at a later date. A guestbook will be available at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Lakeview Faith Chapel.
