Obituary

Baltie Mannell, 75, of Holton, KS passed away at her home in Holton on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was born May 23, 1949 in Hyden, KY, the daughter of Barry and Dora (Brown) Caldwell. She graduated in 1971 from Red Bird Mission School in Queendale, KY.

On June 24, 1978, Baltie married Stanley J. Mannell at the Christian Ministerial Alliance Church in Warbranch, KY. They shared over 46 years of marriage.

Baltie was a CNA for most of her life.  She worked at the old Holton Hospital, Aldersgate Nursing Home, Plaza West Nursing Home and St. Francis Hospital.

She was a member of the National and Missouri Valley Insulators Association with her husband Stan. She enjoyed collecting dolls, cooking and flowers. She loved all animals, especially her cats, red birds and squirrels.

Survivors include her husband Stan of the home; 2 sisters, Hazell Caldwell of Tyner, KY and Nancy Slaughter (Tim) of Harrodsburg, KY; and 3 brothers, Thaddeus Caldwell (Sue) of Bledsoe, KY, George D. Caldwell of Warbranch, KY and Terry Caldwell (Amy) of McKee, KY.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2024 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with the burial to follow at Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service time.  Memorials may be given to Red Bird Mission (A Christian outreach program in Kentucky) c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
