Obituary
Avis Marlene Stockwell, 82, Wichita, formerly of Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1935, at Wichita, the daughter of Johnny Grant and Hazel L. Lockart Simpson. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1954.
Marlene worked at Valley View Nursing Home in Valley Falls from 1976-1988. She had worked at Grove Hardware at Wichita from 1952-1959.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Wichita, and the Centenarian Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Valley Falls.
Marlene married Delbert K. Stockwell, April 20, 1958, at Wichita. He died Dec. 4, 2014. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Connie Barbour.
Survivors include a son, William Stockwell, and his wife, Cheryl, Wichita; and a daughter, Debra Stockwell, Topeka.
A Memorial Service will be at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
