ARTITH Y. TODD

Artith Y. Todd, 77, Valley Falls, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
She worked at the Valley Falls Post Office and had worked in the Valley Falls School Cafeteria. She had been a farm wife and had taught grade school at Arrington, Valley Falls and in the Swabville community, northwest of Valley Falls.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Rebekah Lodge 652, Forget-Me-Not Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars. She had been a member of the Jefferson County Service Organization, the North Cedar Club, the Valerian Study Club and secretary of the Valley Falls Cemetery Association.
She was born Aug. 14, 1929, at Denison, the daughter of Arthur Benson and Ceola Ferrell Cain. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School at Effingham in 1947.
She married Jack M. Lassiter, on July 10, 1948, at Valley Falls. They were divorced. She married John H. Todd, on Oct. 17, 1980. at Miami, OK. He died on March 12, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Rex Lassiter, and his wife Jimi Jo Simmons, and two daughters, Cathy Jepson Branch and Brenda Lassiter Buel, all of Valley Falls; a brother, Alton Cain, and his wife Marilyn, Medford WI; a sister Avis Figgs, and her husband, Tim, Hoyt; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
