Arthur Julian Lassiter, 98, Valley Falls, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Jefferson County Senior Living Center at Winchester.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1912, at Holliday, KS, the son of William A. and Eliza J. Smith Lassiter. He graduated from Blue Mound Rural Grade School, south of Valley Falls.
Art was a farmer-stockman all of his life and farmed west of Valley Falls. He married Merle Arlene Housh on Jan. 3, 1937, at Valley Falls. She died on Nov. 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Frank, Paul, Tom, Charlie, Jack, Fred and George Lassiter, four sisters, Pearl Jackson, Mabel Coons, Grace Chaney and Margaret Blacketer, and a granddaughter, Lori Lynn Lassiter.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Kay) Lassiter, and Jackie T. Lassiter; a daughter, Connie (Gary) Bernasek, all of Valley Falls; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Valley Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the
