Obituary

Arlene G. Eagle Rascon, 80, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Mayetta, KS passed away February 20, 2014 in Oklahoma City.

She was born January 9, 1934 in Tama, IA the daughter of Frank and Blanche (O'Bennick) Eagle. She was raised in Mayetta, Kansas and was a member of the Sac & Fox Tribe of Meskwaki Nation. Arlene attended the Native American Peyote Church and practiced drum religion. She was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress in Oklahoma. She married Lawrence Fairbanks and was later divorced. She then married Peter C. Aitkens and the couple divorced. In 1978 she married Rosario Efran Rascon. He survives in Oklahoma City.

Arlene is also survived by: her sons, Maurice Aitkens of Circleville, KS, Reggie Fairbanks and Gordon Eagle both of Oklahoma City, OK; her daughter, Sylvia Matlock of Topeka, KS; her 2 grandchildren, Raphael and Juan Burnett and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Christine & Virginia Eagle, her brothers, Levi and John Eagle and her grandsons, Adrian Brett Aitkens, Michael Levi Aitkens and Maurice Bren Aitkens.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Prairie Peoples Cemetery in Mayetta. Viewing will be 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
