Anthony Scott Harper, 38, Meriden, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at his home.
He was born on April 7, 1975, at Lawrence, the son of Ernie Wenzl and Cheryl Harper.
Scotty was a technician for Redi-Refrigeration in Topeka. He had also worked as a chef at Perkins Restaurant and as a roofing contractor.
Scotty spent most of his life in Topeka. More recently he lived on a farm near Meriden, with the love of his life, Jaclyn Zwygart, his son Greyson Ray Scott Harper, and stepdaughter, Nevaeh Jones. He loved the farm, target shooting and most of all spending time with family and friends. Even though his life was cut short, he made an impact on his family and friends. They will never forget his laugh and incredible sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Anne Hoffman, and family friend, Bill McCombs.
He is survived by his fiance, Jaclyn Zwygart, of the home; his son, Greyson Harper, and his stepdaughter, Nevaeh Jones, both of Meriden; his mother, Cheryl Harper, Topeka; his sister, Judy (Darrius) Plantz and her family, Georgetown, TX; his father, Ernie Wenzl, and stepmother, Betty Wenzl, Vermillion; two half-brothers, Rich (Janelle) Wenzl, Topeka. Rob (Stacie) Wenzl, Phillipsburg; a half-sister, Angela (Clay) Rose, Leesville, LA; two uncles, Donald Gene Hoffman, Effingham, and Warren James Darst, Oskaloosa; two aunts, Sandra Fairchild and Patricia(Mark) Stone, all of Valley Falls; cousins, Larry Fairchild, Topeka, Crystal (Chris) Tinch, Overbrook, Josh Stone, Metaire, LA, and Maggie Stone, Valley Falls.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
