Anne Marie Swindale, 59, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Anne was born December 1, 1966, in Overland Park, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Beck) Salchow. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1985 and went on to attend the University of West Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Anne built a successful career as a Computer Programmer for the University of Kansas, where her analytical mind and dedication were greatly valued.
Anne had a deep love for quilting and found joy and fellowship as a member of the Nebraska Quilt Guild. She also attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas, where her faith and community were important parts of her life.
On May 3, 2015, Anne married Eugene “Gene” Swindale in Olathe, Kansas. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and shared memories.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; two step-daughters, Samantha Swindale (Kat) of Wichita, Kansas, and Elizabeth Reveles (Jayro) of Holton, Kansas; her sister, Jennifer Schneider (John) of Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Paul Salchow (Lori) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Pete Salchow (Holly) of California, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Tammy Sizemore (Eddie) of Hiddenite, North Carolina and Betty Strader (Jimmy) of Holton, KS; six grandchildren and her beloved dog Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Salchow; her step-son, Gary Swindale; her grandson, Mayson Reveles and her mother and father-in-law, Harold Duane and Patricia (Sue) Swindale.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66617. Inurnment will follow at Ontario Cemetery (5 miles NE of Circleville, KS). Memorials may be given to the Topeka Zoo and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
Anne will be remembered for her quiet strength, sharp mind, creative spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
