Angie Evelyn Curtis, 89, Clay Center, formerly of Topeka, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1924, at Ozawkie, the daughter of Guy H. and Bessie E. Johnson Brammell. She graduated from Ozawkie High School.
Angie had worked in the Department of Revenue for the State of Kansas in Topeka for ten years. Prior to that she had worked at Jostens Printing Co. in Topeka. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church and a former member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka, and the United Methodist Church in Valley Falls.
She married William Henry Curtis on Nov. 15, 1942, at Kansas City, KS. He died on Nov. 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Willard, Norman and Harley Brammell, and five sisters, Murna Boldra, Erma Steffey, Mildred Knackstedt, Lola Knackstedt and Julia Achilles.
Survivors include a son, Leslie D. (Linda) Curtis, Abilene; two daughters, Beverly I. (Jim) Rieger, Clay Center, and Susan K. Curtis, Warsaw, MO; a brother, Max Brammell, Topeka; two sisters, Florene Johnson, Topeka, and Madene Schiable, Cheyenne, WY; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan, Topeka. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
