Angela "Jubby" K. Masquat

Angela Kaye “Jubby-Kwe” Masquat, 53, of Mayetta, KS, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at her home. She was born February 22, 1973 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Curtis P. “Nin-We” and Julia K. (Harrison) Masquat.

Jubby graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1991. She was an Administrative Manager for Prairie Band Potawatomi Early Childhood Education Center for many years. After her health declined, she was a homemaker raising her 3 children.

She was a member of Drum Religion and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Santana Noriega (Koke Thomas) of Mayetta, KS and Simone Noriega (Rusty Potts) of Topeka, KS; her son, Marquis Hernandez (Saida Mahkuk) of Mayetta, KS; 2 sisters, Josie “Mitchi” Masquat of Mayetta, KS and Janelle “Zahwee” Masquat of Lawrence, KS; 10 grandchildren, Keyan, Silas, Franklin, Danis, Kendrick, Bem-O-Ko, Nepahkwah, Honey, Jaelyn, Angelo and “one on the way” and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Julia Masquat; sister, Naomi “Din” Masquat and brother, Elliot “Wah” Masquat.

Jubby will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Drum and Wake will be Friday evening at the Danceground Building. Burial will be Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2026 at Masquat Cemetery (7510 182nd Rd. Mayetta, KS).
