Amy L. Spiker

Amy Lou Spiker, 69, of Holton, KS, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 at her home with family by her side. She had fought a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 19, 1956 in Winchester, KS, the daughter of Ernest F. and Patricia F. (Pickett) Wichman.

Amy graduated from Holton High School in 1974. She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide, Activities Director and Director of Social Services at Medicalodges Jackson County (formerly Jackson County Nursing Home); retiring after 31 years. Her family, work family and friends whom became family was of most importance to her.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She married the love of her life, Jared Spiker, in December of 1986. They celebrated over 39 years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Jared of the home; 2 dogs, Petunia and Buddy; sister, Carol Searles (Rob Rolin) of Denison, KS; brother, Kevin Wichman (Sandy) of Circleville, KS; 2 sisters-in-law, Cheryl Wichman of Everest, KS and Sue Wichman of Holton, KS; bonus daughter, Tara Elliott of Holton, KS; bonus grandson, Kayden Elliott, bonus granddaughter, Adalie Minde and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Patricia Wichman; adopted son, Vance Spiker and 3 brothers, Dale, Allen and Verlin Wichman.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Amy will lie in state 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
