AMY LOUISE CAWLEY
OLATHE-Amy Louise Cawley, 96, born to Thomas and Mary McAsey Cawley on Aug. 15, 1911, northwest of Valley Falls, KS, died Feb. 28, 2008, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, KS. She graduated from St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, MO as a RN, received a BSN at St. Louis University and later a Master's Degree from Yale University. She served in WW II as a Navy Captain in public health and also taught Public Health at several universities.
Brothers Thomas Cawley Jr and Paul Cawley and sisters, Sr Anne Cawley OSB and Maureen Wenzl preceded her in death. Many nieces and nephews survive, including Father Tom Cawley, Independence, MO, Bob Cawley Eudora, and Marie Ice, Lawrence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2008, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or other agencies for the poor and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
