Alberta Tuck, 82, of Hoyt, KS passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her home. She was born November 22, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Olive Piper at Newcastle, Wyoming. She spent her early years in Topeka, KS where she graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.
Alberta was married November 28, 1948 in Topeka, KS to Dean Tuck. They moved to the farm at Hoyt in March of 1949. She was a member of the Hoyt United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years, Jr. Choir Director for 10 years, Adult Choir Director and a member of the administrative board for many years. She was Hoyt Livewire 4-H leader and advisor for 26 years. She was instrumental in getting the Friends of Hospice started in Jackson County and she was a charter member. She served as president of that organization for 13 years.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Tuck of Hoyt, KS; two daughters, Sharon Lucas (Steve) of Topeka, KS and Deanna Culbertson (Lloyd) of Phillipsburg, KS; one son, Ronald Tuck (Lynn) of Hoyt, KS; seven grandchildren, Angie Lucas Wilkinson (Zerek), Kent Culbertson (Toni), Luke Lucas (Lisa), Shane Culbertson (Toni), Cory Tuck (Hattie), Darin Tuck and Kurtis Tuck (Jenna); six great-grandchildren; step-mother, Dorothy Piper, step-sister, Regina and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Piper and Gary Piper and a sister, Jackie Kirby.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Hoyt United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
