LEEPER

HOLTON- Minnie "Alberta" Leeper, age 97, of Holton, Kansas passed away February 25, 2009. She was born June 18, 1911 in Soldier, Kansas, the youngest daughter of John and Minnie Allen Crowley. Alberta grew up in the Soldier community, attending grade school and high school in Soldier. She joined and attended the Christian Church in Soldier, later transferring her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Holton. She was a member of the adult Sunday school class and a member of the Alpha Circle of the First United Methodist Church.
She attended Topeka Beauty School and was a hair dresser at Elsie Whittey's Beauty Shop in Holton.
She was united in marriage to William W. Leeper, June 27, 1938 at Platte City, MO. To this union three children were born, Joyce Alley, Little Rock, ARK; Carolyn Wilson, Westwood Hills, KS and Robert Leeper, Lenexa, KS.
Alberta assisted her husband in their business, Leeper Hardware Store, as a bookkeeper for 30 years. Later when Mr. Leeper became ill, she managed the store and business for seven years, closing out the business in 1984. For the last five years Alberta lived with and was cared for by her daughter Carolyn Wilson.
Alberta was a devoted wife and Mother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a kind and thoughtful person, always thinking of others first. Family gatherings were her great joy. Her family was small in numbers but was a very close and loving family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her children Joyce Alley, Little Rock, Ark; Carolyn Wilson, Westwood Hills, KS; and Robert and Linda Leeper, Lenexa, KS; one granddaughter, Cynthia and Bret Hotchkiss, Dallas, TX; two grandsons, Michael Wilson, Del Mar, CA; and Chris Leeper, Roeland Park, KS. Three great grandchildren, Brendan Kinnear Hotchkiss, Christopher Trent Hotchkiss and Elizabeth Yvonne Hotchkiss.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery.
