OXANDALE
HOLTON—Aileen E. Oxandale, 87, of Holton, died February 9, 2006 at the Jackson County Nursing Home in Holton.
She was born February 22, 1918, the daughter of Bert William and Cora Belle Rickel Hallauer. She graduated from Netawaka High School in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Mrs. Oxandale taught school early in life at the Hazel Row School, south of Netawaka. She was a homemaker and helped her husband Melvin on their dairy farm most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton and was a member of the Unity Circle at the church.
She married Melvin B. Oxandale on June 14, 1941 in Holton. He died December 30, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a great grandson Kyler Amon on June 23, 1999.
Survivors include 3 daughters Linda Howes and her husband, Jim of Whiting, Bonnie Stauffer and her husband, Rodney of Holton, Shirley Amon and her husband, Larry of Netawaka; 2 sisters Lila Myers and her husband, Dick of Topeka, Vivian Mapes of Hays; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Oxandale will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Netawaka Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
