Genevieve Emily Rollins

Genevieve Emily Rollins, 87, Winchester, formerly of Valley Falls, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born on April 14, 1925, at Onaga, the daughter of Emile Ferdinand and Waunita Alice Perrussel Cass. She graduated from Onaga High School in 1943.

Genevieve was a homemaker. She had worked at Kansas Power & Light in Topeka and later was a med-aide at the Jefferson County Memorial Geriatric Center at Winchester for 18 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Valley Falls where she served as president, treasurer and chaplain.

She married Joseph M. “Joe” Rollins, Jr., on Aug. 7, 1945, at Osceola, AR. He died on Dec. 22, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Osterberg, and a grandson, Daniel James Stevens.

Survivors include a son, Bob (Nancy) Rollins, Topeka; six daughters, Lorraine (Dennis) Perkins, Topeka, Patricia (Robert) George and Brenda (Mark) Miller, all of Nortonville, Bonita (D.D.) Clark, Valley Falls, Linda (John) Hart, McLouth, and Joyce (Pat) Davis, Ozawkie; a brother, Vincent Cass, Onaga; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center or to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 VFW c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
