HOLTON - Janice H. Kathrens, 74, of Holton, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Holton Community Hospital.

She was born on August 31, 1937, at Hiawatha, the daughter of John Henry and Mildred Jennifer (Houlette) Fraser. She attended Hiawatha schools and later graduated from high school in Belfour, CA.

Janice was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for over 51 years east of Holton.

She married John Edward Kathrens on September 30, 1961, at Hiawatha. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Kathrens II., on Oct. 26, 2000; a brother, Jerald Kenneth Fraser and two sisters, Jean Zimmerman and Shirley Babb.

Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; a son, Daniel B. Kathrens, of Great Bend, KS; three daughters, Cynthia Ann Kathrens (Dave Jeanneret), of Onaga, KS, Pat G. Korte (Randy) and Sharon Hochard (John), both of Holton, KS; a brother, Glen Jake Fraser (Nancy), of Holton, KS; three sisters, Joan Hall, of Holton, KS, Mary Kleppe (Paul), of Hiawatha, KS and Betty Adams, of Center Point, OR; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Assoc. c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
