Evelyn Rasdall

C. Evelyn Rasdall, 88, Valley Falls, KS, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the LinnWood Home Plus care facility in Valley Falls, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 12, 1923, at Kansas City, KS, the daughter of William Bryant and Cyrena Ellen Ragland Berry. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1941.

Evelyn worked at Swift & Co. Meat Packing and J.C. Penney, both in Kansas City, KS. She later taught at “The Growing Place” Preschool and Day Care at White Church Christian Church before retiring. She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church and Chapter DK, P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She married Richard K. Rasdall on Nov. 16, 1946, at Shawnee Mission, KS. He died on July 26, 2003.

Survivors include her son, Richard K. Rasdall Jr., and his wife Rebecca, Gladstone, MO; her daughter, Lori A. Wunder, and her husband, John, Valley Falls; three grandchildren, R. Brett Rasdall, Katie Wunder and Ryan Wunder; dozens of nieces and nephews and two very close friends, Jeanie Frakes and Irene Hurst, both of Valley Falls.

Evelyn was loved dearly by her family and admired by her friends. She adored her three grandchildren. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home and was a wonderful hostess.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all the Jefferson County Hospice Staff and volunteers and to all the staff at LinnWood Home Plus. The outstanding care, concern and attention provided by these patient and talented individuals made Evelyn's final days as peaceful as possible.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice or to the Valley Falls United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
